How to Add a Newsletter Popup to Blogger

Growing your mailing list is an important part of building a community and being able to reach your readers. Subscriber popups are handy because they allow you to prompt a visitor to join your list when they visit your site. Offering a special incentive for doing so will result in more signups and a happy list.

Many different plugins exist for WordPress newsletter popups, but Blogger is another story. Usually, you need a website with database capabilities to pull off a custom mailing list popup. Unfortunately, since Blogger does not have this ability, the options are limited.
Luckily, Mailchimp has an easy option that I’ve realized works well in Blogger after trying and testing it.

Here’s how to set it up:

First you’ll need a Mailchimp account. You’ll also need to have a List created, so if you are just starting, set that up now.

1. Beside your list, click on the dropdown arrow and select Signup forms.

2. Then select the Subscriber Popup option to start creating your popup form.

3. You can style your form various ways using the tools that Mailchimp provides.
4. When you are finished, click on the Get Code button and copy the code that is provided to you. Clicking Publish will publish your form and you can always make changes to it at a later date without having to update the code!

5. Finally, go into Blogger and navigate to the Layout page. Add a new HTML/Javascript gadget and paste the code inside. Now when visitors land on your site, they will be prompted with the popup to subscribe, and all new subscriptions will end up in your Mailchimp list. If a user chooses to close the window or has already subscribed, they won’t be prompted again unless they clear their cache.

I hope this helps you grow your list!
